Thank you for coming by! I welcome you with a poem, inspired by one of my favorite words. Say “petunia” aloud, and enjoy! What are your favorite words?

I write children’s books and poetry and edit children’s books as a freelance editor. You can read about how this began at a very early age and more on the About Karin page.

The most reliable way to keep up with my writing and editing news is to subscribe to my email list. Don’t worry about me crowding up your email box, I don’t send these emails too often. Just when I have news to share. And I have a little more of that lately because . . .

Big news! The Clock and the Boulder, my time-travel novel for ages 9-12 was released on April 22, 2025. Inspired by elements of my own family history in Småland, Sweden, the book takes place in 2016 USA and 1755 rural Sweden. Themes include friendship, family, the woods, and one’s own sense of home.

My board book My Amazing Day: A Celebration of Wonder and Gratitude  won the 2015 BAIPA Book Award for Fiction: Children’s Picture Book and was a runner-up in the 2013 ForeWord Book of the Year Award: Picture Book, Early Reader category.

As a children’s book editor, I draw from what I know about what makes stories engaging, how young people read, and how grammar and punctuation support clear writing. I edit children’s books and young adult books of all genres. You can learn about the ways I can help you make your manuscript even more of what you want it to be and reach your audience effectively on my Editing Services page.

My musings on being a grown-up person who still has her sense of wonder are in
my Still in Awe Blog.

I’m proud to support Read Your World (formerly Multicultural Children’s Book Day) as a member of their Board of Advisors and the Sydney Taylor Shmooze Blog as a regular reviewer.

I love hearing from readers and writers! Here’s where you can contact me.
